Media Center & Dragon Naturally Speaking
« on: October 27, 2006, 04:28:49 am »

Earlier this week a relation of mine was involved in an accident which broke his neck and has left him paralyzed from the neck down. We're all obviously in a state of shock and it's difficult to come to terms with the fact that - at least whilst he's in hospital for the next few months - there is very little we can do to help.

One thing that did occur to me was that we might be able to get him a voice activated MP3 player and transfer a selection of books to it. Feeble I know but at least it might in some small way relieve the monotony occasionally. Anyway, I was a bit surprised to find that at the moment there doesn't seem to be any such thing, although there are plans in the pipeline with several companies. The alternative may be a small laptop computer running Media Center and Dragon Naturally Speaking (the latest version 9 is supposed to be the best on the market).

Has anyone tried this before and, if so did it work?

TIA
