Having a problem with my 80gb Ipod video...

Music purchased from ITunes will transfer to Ipod using MC but it will not play on the Ipod.

However if I use Itunes to transfer the music then it will play fine on the Ipod.

I have tried restoring my Ipod but this still does not solve the problem.

Is there something obvious I'm missing??

Please help as I want to buy songs from ITunes but manage them in MC!

When you purchase music from iTunes, you are only purchasing the right to play that music (or use that file) where, when and how Apple (and the music industry) wants you to.  If you want a say in the matter, don't buy DRMed music.

That being said, are you running the latest version of MC (11.201 or 12.0.102 beta)?  Apple recently made a bunch of changes and the older versions may have issues.

Also - it sounds like DVD Jon has just cracked the current Fair-Play that Apple uses so expect more issues in the short term as Apple changes that again.

I know about the whole DRM problem... and I don't usually buy Itunes music (or any DRMed music for that matter!) but sometimes there are ITunes only downloads that I couldn't get anywhere else legally!

I am running 12.0.102...  ?

Don't know, but to test I set up an account and pulled down the free song of the week.  I can't even get it to transfer to the iPod with MC12 - get a Hali media splitter error.  If you don't get a better response here, try the MC12 beta forum.
