Zune desktop theme complements Noire skin
« on: November 06, 2006, 03:54:44 pm »

I came across a Windows theme (for XP) on the forthcoming ZUNE website. It jives pretty nicely with Noire. Had to get rid of the default background tho, and replace it with a plain Slate Grey.

The site:

The desktop theme:

It's very similar to this one:

I don’t know if it was published here before, I did a quick search and didn’t get a hit. Excuse me, if it’s already an old “News”.

I just found a new windows style called “Royal Noir“. It looks like it was made just to make Windows look like MC  :) It doesn’t need any software or registry hacks to be installed, because it comes from Microsoft.

Here is a download location:

Here is a download location in Germany (where I found it):

But the the zune theme MSI-installer does install quiet much. Don't know why and what... strange.

The biggest difference (took only a short glance at zune): It's a bit brighter than the original MS Royal Noir and the Zune theme doesn't take effect on MS office programs, MS Royal Noir does. Also the start button color differs: in MS its black and gets green on mouse hover, in Zune it’s always green (or is it red?).

All in all I like MS Royal Noir better. I think it also fits better for MCs Noire skin, because it’s darker.
