MC and new lame encoder
« on: November 08, 2006, 04:07:24 pm »

the LAME project released 3.97 in September, it's not in BETA any more.

Can I upgrade my MC mp3 encoder by just replacing the old lame in the plugin directory with the new one?

Thanks.

Yes, you can. The file is lame.exe in the [MC program path]\Plugins folder.

I think JRiver will update the LAME version soon. It would be better to use the officially released version even though it contains only one small change from the currently used v. 3.97 beta 2.

I'd guess they are just waiting to see if the LAME developers release any quick bug fix versions. (Though, this may be unlikely to happen anytime soon. LAME 3.97 beta 3 was out for a couple of months and the release version was not changed from beta 3.)
