Wasted Restore
« on: November 16, 2006, 08:26:06 pm »

Hi,

As soon as I purchased the Media Center and got my email, a message said that the key was installed.  But when I checked the registration info, it still said 30 day trial so I clicked the key and it did a restore.  It STILL said not registered until I closed and reopened media center.

Is there any chance you can reset my restores?  Also, it would be good to make the program restart automatically after the key is installed.  Otherwise, love the product!

Thank you!

I'm not sure that that would have actually used up one of your restores.  Unless you received a second email with another copy of the license file attached, then you probably just re-used the restore you already had.  Those license files are good for (I believe) 15 days or so without needing to use a restore, so that you can install it on your other computers if you want to.

Anyway... In the extremely unlikely event that you use up all 10 of your restores before one year from now, just come here and post a quick message and someone from JRiver will help you out.  The system is designed to help prevent piracy, but they are very careful that it doesn't negatively impact paying customers.

Oh... And welcome Stan!

Thank you for the welcome!  Yes, I did get an email saying I had 9 left, but you are probably right, 9 should do me.

Thanks!

Yep!  Keep in mind that it's 10 restores per rolling year, so (assuming you used the restore today) then on November 16th, 2007 you'll get 1 back, and so on and so forth.

Err... I guess it's not today anymore but you get what I mean.

Like I said, no need to fear.  If you run into trouble, just visit these forums and post.  Assuming everything is reasonable (no pirate stuff going on -- argh, me maties and all that) someone should be able to help you out.

This happened to me as well after a recent complete system refresh. It went one further, I originallly got an email saying I had 9 left but got two more saying 8 then 7. So I guess I have used three for 1. Not a real big deal considering I think in the past 3 years have only used one. I don't expect to use another seven this year but I may use another three putting media center on my second computer ha ha. JRiver should look into this perhaps it's a browser thing and if they could check their records and renew our restores would be great.
