Problems playing mp3 from outside of MJ
« on: September 06, 2002, 06:22:09 am »

I have always been able to double click on an mp3 file from a windows folder, MJ would automatically open and proceed to play the file.  Now when I double click a file, MJ opens, but goes no further.  Does anyone have ideas on a fix?

Thanks in advance,
Rob Juneau

I am currently using MJ 8.0.329

Jim,

With the latest version (8.0.365), I still cannot double click a file in My Documents and have it play.  It gets only as far as opening MJ.

I took the liberty of posting my system info:

Media Jukebox PLUS 8.0.365
Install Path: C:\Program Files\J River\Media Jukebox\

CPU: Intel Unknown 36 MHz MMX
Memory: Total - 523 MB, Free - 345 MB
OS: Microsoft Windows XP  Workstation 5.1  (Build 2600)

Internet Explorer: 6.0.2600.0000
ComCtl32.dll: 6.00.2600.0000
Shlwapi.dll: 6.00.2600.0000
Shell32.dll: 6.00.2600.0000
wnaspi32.dll: Internal ASPI Layer

Thanks for your help

maybe some of the general settings may help

General Settings
To access the General Settings do one of the following:

Toolbar Click on from the toolbar; or
File Menu Settings > Options; or
Keyboard Ctrl-O.
INTERFACE

Minimize to System Tray. If this option is checked (default), Media Jukebox will be added to the system tray when minimized, and otherwise it will be placed in the task bar.
Make Inactive Mini-Me Transparent (Win2k & XP). If this option is checked and you are running Windows 2000, the mini-me player will be displayed transparently when it is no longer the active application.
Jump to Playing Now During Playback. If this option is checked (default), Media Jukebox will open Playing Now if two or more media tracks are selected for playback.
IMPORTING & TAGGING

Automatically Import Files into Media Library. Whenever you play a file associated with Media Jukebox, that file will be imported (added to the "Recently Imported" Playlist and filed into the various folders, including Artist, Album, etc).
Update Tags When File Info Changes. If this option is checked (default), Media Jukebox will modify the ID3 v1 and/or v2 tags whenever you modify a file's properties.
Clear "Recently Imported" Playlist On Exit. If this is checked, the next time you exit Media Jukebox, the "Recently Imported" Playlist will be cleared.
SHELL OPTIONS

Enable Media Scheduler on Windows Startup. If this option is checked, Media Scheduler will automatically start when you start your computer. For more information, see Media Scheduler.
Enable Media Jukebox Shell Integration. If this option is checked, Media Jukebox will be added to the standard file context menus, which appear when you click the right mouse button on a file icon in Explorer or Desktop.
BEHAVIOR

Double click. Select the action to be performed when double clicking on a file.
Play button. Select the action to be performed by the Play button.

Thanks King Sparta, for your reply and offering your advice.  Unfortunately, none of the option changes made a difference.  Still I cannot dbl. click on an mp3 and have MJ play it.  The program opens but nothing happens.  What's strange is that 7.0 worked fine on this computer.
