playing mpeg 2 files with surround sound from HD?
« on: November 25, 2006, 04:29:22 pm »

just to see if i would like it, i just ripped some dvd's and imported them in mc12. did it in mpeg2 format with 6 channels. the files show very nicely in mc12 (as i expected) but i have a problem to get the surround sound to work.

i know for sure that it ripped multichannel, because i can play the files surround with powerdvd7. as far as i understand, powerdvd uses the sound drivers choosen as primary sound device in windows. so in my case i have to use the wdm drivers instead of the mme. and then it works fine.

i have no problem playing dvd's in surround with mc12.

now my question is, do i need an other filter or something like that to play those mpeg2 files. which ones are recommended.

and on a sidenote, i just tested magic dvd ripper, is that something, what are other good option.

and how stupid is it to rip to mpeg2 (or what are also nice formats).

thanks for listening.

oh.. i use xp pro with a RME fireface 800 soundcard.

im sorry, found something that works.

i realy have to find out what in directshow, the audio renderer, the source filters and the other filters have to do with each other. i do get lost there.
