locks up
« on: September 03, 2002, 09:47:12 am »

Frequently when putting MJ in pause and the try to play again it locks up.  Have to bring up the task manager to close MJ, once I restart MJ it works fine.

Hope all you guys are well.

Still having this problem, when I try to restart MJ from being in pause it plays for about 3 seconds then locks up.  Any ideas?

Finally - someone else is having the same symptoms!!  I have been having this problem for at least a month now...  Myself and another guy I work with have the same thing happen to us almost daily - except we are using Win2000.  What other programs do you have running when this happens?  I was thinking it might be conflicting with something else - possibly something that makes sounds.  I use Trillian as my IM program (beeps/sounds new msg/mail/etc), I have Webshots (no sounds), Norton AV (no noise)...  Those are the only things I can think of that the other guy and myself have in common.  I'm grasping at straws here - it seems to happens so randomly I can't replicate it...
I hope someone here has some ideas we can try!

I'm running both trillian and NAV too, frankly I'm thinking it's a problem with the latest build and not something on our end. Funny thing is after the music stops the visualation still runs, but the program is locked up.

Yeah - I noticed that I could click and do different things within MJ - until I tried something like stop/play/next, etc...  I wonder if mjextman.exe is locking up but mediajukebox.exe is running fine until it has to do something to mjextman.exe.

I'm bumping this to see if anyone from MJ could take a look into it...

It has locked up on me three times today...

Please help!!!

Try uninstalling the other software you mention.

Hi Jim,
Does it have to be uninstalled?  I did shut down Trillian and logged into AIM and Yahoo Messenger directly, but I did experience another lock-up.
As for Norton, I agree with nyc-ink...  We would have to leave it uninstalled for at least a few days to test and see if that is really the conflict.  I would be concerned with it being down for that long.
Is there any way to debug or view some log to have a better idea of the problem - without uninstalling stuff?

I'm only following up on what you have discovered that you have in common.  It's up to you to decide what to do next.

Deactivating software does not necessarily work.  Uninstall and reboot does.

If you're afraid of network hacking, disconnect from the Internet for long enough to test.
