When using MC 12.0.139 with the newest FLAC 2.1.1 encoder/decoder the date/year attribute is not visible in MC12. In MC11 it works ok. The date/year was stored in FLAC files using MC11 with MC11 FLAC encoder/decoder and “update tags from fields” command.

I don’t know whether it is a FLAC or MC12 issue.

It's a plugin issue.  There are both "Year" and "Date" tags.  In previous versions, MC had used Year.  As of some version around 11, they started using Date too and deprecated the use of Year.  Typically they would write Year but ask for Date and Year.  The Vorbis standard is Date.

So in versions of the flac plugin before 2.1.1, I used both, converted to date, and responded to both with the appropriate value.  When I was testing 2.1.1 (with 12.0.130), it was using Date for both, so I eliminated the Year responses.  During my testing, everything seemed to be working fine.

For best results, make sure you are using the Date field and not the Year field.

I’m using the Date field when entering Year in MC 11. Then I update file tags from MC 11. Next I import the file into other MC libraries using both MC 11 and MC 12. In MC 11 library I see both Date and Year as entered both for FLAC and MP3 files. In MC 12 I see Date and Year for MP3 files only. These fields are empty for FLAC files.

OK, looks like I'll put the code back in for now.  Look for a new plugin tonight or tomorrow morning.

Matt/JRiver: maybe during this beta cycle YEAR can be phased out completely in favor of DATE?
