Looking for Windows Classic skin
« on: January 30, 2013, 06:52:46 pm »

I'd like a Windows Classic style skin with No gradients, animations, row-alternating backgrounds, rounded corners, shadows or decorations of any kind etc. and ideally Windows standard buttons e.g. on title bar.

Needed for work - not play :)

None remotely like this found in the Skins gallery.

Thanks.

maybe this one?

If it omits the gradients, transaprency etc. of the original MetroX, it will be great. Thanks. I'll try it when it is again available (http://yabb.jriver.com/interact/index.php?topic=77342.msg525717#msg525717).

WinDozeClassic
Thanks. Something like that but without the gradients, animation, row-alternating background, transparency etc. would be ideal.

Do please let me know if you consider such an update. I'll be keen to beta test.

I found some issues on MC18 - missing/wrong buttons, disturbed positioning. Say if you'd like a report posted at EDIT http://yabb.jriver.com/interact/index.php?board=5;action=display;threadid=15333 .

The skin was produced by member knickelfarz when MC removed Windows skinning way back then. He's not around much now, something 'fishy' about that perhaps ;)

It's not surprising that some elements might not be quite right after all this time. If you would like to use the skin, if you report areas requiring attention here, I will see if I can't find time to update it for you. I don't believe knickelfarz would mind.

E.g. transparency on menus, gradient on preset (EDIT: meaning car radio 1, 2, 3, etc.) buttons:

Win XP SP3.

Thanks, Marko - I'll do that after a bit more use.

For transparency go to options==>général==>advanced and u can disable it ;)
Preset? i don't know what it is.

Thanks, but though I see 'Popup transparency mode:', I don't see any option that disables the transparency on menus of my example. Or that disables the transparent of pop-up tooltips.

Preset? i don't know what it is.
Sorry to be unclear - I was referring to the car radio 1, 2, 3, etc. buttons.

For car radio u can try this but maybe there's a better way...
i put them in:
C:\Program Files (x86)\J River\Media Center 18\Data\Default Skin Items\Standard View

AFAICT "Popup transparency mode: Disable" doesn't affect any standard-view transparency.

Thanks. Those replacement .PNGs succeed in removing the car radio button EDIT transparency gradient on MetroX.

You read my mind! But I'm not going to get in to skin editing - I'll leave that to experts :)

but mouseover effect removed.
It removes mouseover effect on the background - thanks - and I guess the mouseover effect that remains on label and of tooltip is unremovable.

Thanks. I found an update which cures the missing/wrong buttons: http://www.futurehome.de/mc/skins/windoze_classic/WinDozeClassic313_MEGAME_Skin.zip

The other issues I think should be amended to make this skin shipshape for MC18 are:

C - gap
D - overlap of box with rule
F - gradient background on car radio buttons and tabs
L - diagonal ends on tabs
I - truncated slider knob
M - refresh button mouseover overlap of tab end
P - invisible label on selected Options item

The letters refer to labels here:

Anyone see other faults?

Do you fancy taking this on, Marko? If not, not problem - I'll make it my first attempt at skin work :)

Note: this has no installer. For a new install, one can download http://www.futurehome.de/mc/skins/windoze_classic/windoze_classic_mc11.mjp , run, then copy the contents of WinDozeClassic313_MEGAME_Skin.zip's WinDozeClassic313 to (here) C:\Program Files (x86)\J River\Media Center 18\Skins\Standard View\WinDozeClassic_MC11 .
