Burning flac files
« on: January 30, 2007, 02:12:32 am »

Not sure if this is an MC12 issue as I've never tried it before: I burnt 3 CDs from flac files and they're all unlistenable. They have a sort of stutter on them. Turned the burn speed down to 2x, which has solved any problems I've had in the past, but no luck.

just for you, I knocked out an audio cd from .flac source files.

During the burn, MC continued playing my current playlist, and I continued poking around on the internet...

The burn completed successfully, and the disc is currently playing away nicely on the Hi-Fi.

Using in_flac v2.1.3, I was set to write cd text, decode directly to disc at maximum speed, without any dsp or crossfade settings.

My system is not what you'd call high-end anymore...
AMD Athlon XP 2800+
1 Gb crucial RAM
TDK 16x ± DVD (re)writer
uptime around the 5 day mark and 64 other processes also running.

1st port of call is to check you're running the current version of the .flac decoder plugin...
Good luck,
-marko.

Hi Marko

Thanks. Yep, I downloaded the flac decoder from the JR site the day before yesterday. The files play fine, it's just burning that doesn't work. I know it's a bit dumb, but if all else fails, I may just have to convert the files to mp3 before burning.

Why would you convert the files to MP3? For audio CDs you could try wave.

Or did you try to burn MP3 CDs? Does your problem have any similarities with this: http://yabb.jriver.com/interact/index.php?topic=38384.0 ?

There's your problem!
That decoder should not be listed under the v12 plugins.
Go to sourceforge and download the v2.x plugins for use with MC v12

Actually, the decoder (input plug-in) link leads to the same Sourceforge download page. Only the version number text on the JRiver page is incorrect.

The encoder plug-in file for MC12 is indeed incorrect. It tries to install the old MC11 version, which does not work with MC12. This could be changed to lead to Sourceforge as well.

Also, the version numbers could be removed so there would be no need to update them each time scthom releases new versions.
