no thumbnails for certain movie formats
« on: January 23, 2007, 12:50:48 am »

Hey guys.
All this while I've been using MC12 for audio only and watching DVD's. Now I've added video clips into my library too. Why doesn't MC12 show thumbnails of all supported formats. Which video formats are supported by mc12 while thumbnailing?

What file type are the video clips which are missing the thumbnails?

Generally any format that is handled by a DirectShow filter will be supported.  I also believe that MC12 handles thumbnailing Quicktime video.  I'm actually not sure which video formats aren't handled, except maybe Real formats (and even then if you install Real Alternative instead of the "real" Real player it should work).

Another question about thumbnails for video: Some of the video start with blank back ground and then the picture slowly fades in. For such video, the thumbnail is created as black rectangle. Is it possible for the thumbnail creation mechanism to be smart so this doesn't happen for such videos?

thanks,

I use real alternative but don't see thumbs for real video files. How would i get thumbs to show for real files?
