IPOD SYNCH - very slow start for 5-20 minutes
« on: February 11, 2007, 01:18:34 pm »

Whenever I start a synch, whether there are 10 tracks or my entire 11k track collection to synch, it starts off SLOW for about 5-20 minutes.  The screen draws painfully slow, the grid area does not scroll smoothly.  Any screen changes are slow, I can watch the screen redraw.  The upload speed is between 1-2mb per second.

And then 5-20 minutes later, it breaks loose and MC screen redraws become snappy like normal and the upload speed jumps up to 5-8mb per second until the upload finishes.

I can stop the synch during a fast time and restart, and then I must go through the 5-20 minutes of slowness.

This issue does not seem to be related to conversions going on at the same time.  I do have MC set for 4 for four simultaneous conversions at once, and when the synch has broken loose and is working well, I cannot tell that my processor is busy, MC is snappy and processor is at 90%.

Is anyone else seeing this?  I have a fast computer and there are no competing programs for processor time.

I have previously uninstalled my virus checker and uninstalled all plugins, they are not the problem.
