If they can be played in DirectShow, they can be converted.

I am still getting into all this video stuff but I would go to http://www.videohelp.com/tools and do a search with the tool features to find the conversion I'm looking for. Then hopefully there will be a freeware tool below that's highly rated and will work fine.

Sorry, I misspoke. The video conversion is only available in the context of hand-held device transfers. You can transfer video to a device and convert in the process.
