hi i have many playlist i have made by going to my music folder all my music is categorized in my music(example.. rock, rnb, rap etc..) and in those folders are the groups\artists, then in those folders are there albums then the songs in the album folders. and i make a playlist in media center then copy the whole rock\rnb dance country etc.. playlist into media centers appopriate playlist i made.

My question is in media center when i make a new playlist. i want 3... one is dance cool mix, one is rock cool mix one is easy listening coolmix. and these playlist will have songs from my MAIN playlists\genres(favorite songs that i love and not all the files that are with n the main playlist just my favorites). now when i make these new playlists. is there a way in media center to copy them all and there cover arts and then save it to a rock cool mix, dance cool mix, easy listening  cool mix folder? or do i have to go my music folder and search through all my genres \folders , sub folders and copy them all and make seperate dance\rock\easy listening cool mix folders?  this would take ALONG TIME.

i ve made a coolmix playlist before. but when media center has crashed. the songs would show back in there again via restore library but the thumbnails wouldnt.

any ideas please?

hope i described this problem well?

I'm not sure I totally understand.

However, you can copy and paste (and drag-n-drop) anywhere in Media Center.

You can also create smartlists that reference any number of playlists.

Finally, you can import and export playlists of varying formats in the File menu.

ok. you make a playlist. you drag whole folder from youR  WINDOWS music folder (rock) to the rock playlist. then you drag 80's rock from WINDOWS music folder to 80's playlist, then you drag classic rock from WINDOWS music folder to classic rock playlist. they all work flawlessly thumbs show. works great :)

now you want to make a playlist that's called cool rock mix(which will have your favorite songs from those 3 playlists (just your favorite songs) you drag and drop them from the 3 PLAYLISTS NOT the windows music folder.

And they all show up with thumbnails as they should.
You do a library backup. to save it.

Now when i restored\reformated my computer a couple weeks ago. all my playlists showed up, EVEN the cool rock one. but in the cool rock one ALL the thumbnails were missing.

So i tried rebuilding them but it only made one thumbnail(same thumbnail) for all music files. which there were hundreds of artists with diffrent thumbs. so i had to delete my custom cool rock mix playlist and remake it then redrag all my favorite songs from the 3 playlists(rock, 80's, classic rock) so as to get my thumbnails back.

so what i'm trying to say is. for some reason if you make a playlist and drag the files from WINDOWS folders into the correct playlist it will save flawlessly, but if you make  a playlist within media center by dragin and dropping from another playlist into the new playlist desired. the thumbs wont save in case of a reformat then a library restore.
At least didnt for me. and that was alot of work(custom mix playlist that was lost)

that make more sense?
sorry for the confussion.

I don't understand why you're using Windows at all to create playlists, you can do all of what you want within MC if all your music is imported  into MC and tagged. It's just a matter of using your tags and some smartlists.

Hopefully Marko or somebody can help you write the needed expressions to create the right smartlists, I'm not much good at that.

any ideas guys on how to save my playlist made inside media center so if it crashes i dont loose thumbnails for those custom playlists?

also i am getting and having been getting 243 errors when updating tags(the last few months). and i think it's the thumbnails cause when i play the same songs even after library restore. the second before its ready to play the next file(for those thumbnails of which i have previously fixed) it deletes the thumbnails and turns it white. so i think i found what my 243 errors are its something with my thumbnails? any ideas why thumbnails would keep disappearing right before playing these 243 songs\files?
