Check for Updates always fails during install

Each time I check for updates and it finds updates it fails during the install.  It says:

"Can not start program 'C:\DOCUME~1\simon\LOCALS~1\Temp\InstallPackage - 1524.tmp'.  Error unknown.  (31)

It seems to download the file fine.  I obviously have to download manually and install but this would be much easier?  Thanks.
