Does the Install Key need to be the same on both PC's?
« on: March 10, 2007, 08:48:17 pm »

I've rebuilt my non-HTPC with Vista and re-installed MC including downloading a new "Temppory Install Key".  Do I need to now nedd to also use this key on my HTPC as well or is it fine with the old one?
Thanks
Nathan

If it's registered then you don't need to do anything. MC Help>Registration Info. The key is just for new installations.

Both are registered with differnt keys - it was just if for some reason I should only use one key at a time.

Nope, if you had 5 different instances of MC, and they were all installed at different times, they could have been registered with 5 different keys.
The only thing the the restore key does is unlock the permanent version from the 30-day trial and that only has to be done when you do a "clean" installation as you did with your "non-HTPC".
If you had to do more than one install, then you certainly can use that same key to unlock all the installs as the key is good for 14 days (after which another key would have to be generated).
