Emusic and download manager
« on: August 28, 2002, 07:32:57 am »

Hello,
I recently subscribed to the emusic.com subsciprtion service.
They let you download individual files or complete albums.
When I download an entire album, the MJ download manager is automatically launched, which was great and which suprised me as I didn't explore that feature in MJ Jukebox. (MJ is amazing!)
Anyway, I found the download manager to be a bit buggy, as it will freeze sometimes during download.  If I leave it alone and don't touch the computer while its running, then it seems to have more success completing.  It seems to freeze if I touch a part of the interface, but I still need to experiment with it more.  Just want to post this and see if other people have had similar problems.
(Note that emusic states that you must have Real Media Jukebox or Zinf to download an entire album.)

JimH

I came just now to Interact to post about this problem

The computer freeze 100% bteween end of download of one song and when the next one is connected. When the next song is connected-before the download starts-your computer is back, doing anything you did during the freeze:back, scroll up or down ,open link.
Same problem with 3 downloads,2 or 1 at the time.

Because of it i just downloaded the Emusicplayer. After 2 full albums downloaded, look like there is not the Download Manager problem.

MJ 356
Windows.ME
IE 6
ADSL-PPPOe connection.

Same problem with any connection settings[Windows default or tweaks]

Downloading 3 songs at the time makes surfing almost impossible

I'm using the very latest MJ (356) with win xp pro and high speed connection.
To help minimize the problem, I have reduced concurrent downloads to 2 and specified that MJ not play the song after it has been downloaded. In fact, I close MJ while the download manager is active.
It's a great download manager, I hope to work the problem out and use it with emusic.

We're looking at it to see if we can reproduce it.

Problem is back with a new artefact.

Now,at the begining at the freeze you get the hourglass next to the arrow for few seconds.
After it only the arrow but computer still freeze
If you are with 3 downloads set, even the 2 others downloads freeze

This bug should be fixed in 8.0.357.  Available now on Interact.

Thanks for reporting it.
