Initialize Ipod?

According to previous topics, I have to change the file name "iTuneDB" in my iPod so that MC can detect the iPod otherwise MC (Version 12, trial) will be crashed and required closing whenever I connect the iPod to PC. However when MC detects Ipod, it requires to initialize the iPod and all of the media files in my iPod will be deleted. Basically, I dare not do anything between MC and iPod.  :'(

Does anyone experience with this problem, pls help.
What I need is that I want to transfer music to my iPod by using MC without loosing any data.
