Automatic Deletion of Podcasts

In the options of a particular podcast feed, I have selected the option to keep the most recent 5 episodes.  I was hoping MC would automatically delete the remaining older files, but this is not occuring...instead, MC just states that the older files are "to be deleted".  Consequently, I now have 13 episodes of this particular podcast (Diggnation) that still exist on my pc's hard drive. 

So, my question is:  Does MC automatically delete the older files?  And if so, when will it finally occur?
