Due to a hard drive failure, I had to reinstall my entire system from scratch (no backups!) onto a new hard drive. Prior to the crash, MC worked great.
Now, when playing a CD, the name of the track is displayed, the counter starts at 00:00, and MC freezes until I kill it using Task Manager. Playing already-ripped MP3 files, or MP3s downloaded off the Internet, works fine.
Also, if I try to rip a CD (which contains no copy-protection method), it sits at "Initializing for rip" for about 15 seconds, then gives:
ASPI Error
Rip failed.
I tried to install
Adaptec's ASPI 4.71, but the installation never got two of the 4 files installed correctly (WOWPOST.exe & WINASPI.DLL). So I tried [URL=http://force_aspi_18.w.interia.pl/]ForceASPI, which got all 4 files installed but I still get the same error message.
