I'm wondering if it's possible to avoid this. When in theater view and switch back and forth to Full screen, I don't want the windows desktop to show itself (and the standard MC view, and explorer windows or whatever program that is running).

Is there a way to avoid this flickering?

This shouldn't be happening. What build are you using? How are you doing the switching? Shift+F11 toggles between Theater View and Display View only. You should never see the desktop or Standard View using this method.

I'm using the latest build (207).
Both Shift+F11 and the mapped button on my remote (irman plugin) let me view the desktop (for half a second)

By the way, I'm on vista (using latest video drivers available on nvidia web site)

Additional informations :

1- Restarted MC, and now it does the flickering only the first time it returns to Theater View.
2- Now I start a video and it behaves exactly as I said before (flickering on every switch).
3- I stop the video and it behaves like 1-

By flickering I mean that between the switchs I can see for half a second my firefox window that redraws itself (flash animations are playing).
