CRISIS- CD WON"T PLAY
« on: August 26, 2002, 06:35:14 pm »

Bump
I can play music from my hard drive and music I have burned to data CD but I can't play ordinary CD's. If I click on Audio CD it says select files but I can't, there's none to select.

I have unchecked digital play back.

Also even though my setting is Analog My computer freezes each time I attempt to burn a CD.

One last query What hard/soft ware is required to use the digital playback features?

I really would appreciate some feedback Iv'e tried twice already with only minimum response from MJ.

In anticipation of HELP

Snapper,

Your Ststem Info Pls - > Help > Sys Info > Copy to Clipboard and Paste at the end of your reply in this thread.

Digital Playback only requires a compatible CD-Drive.

1. Can you see the CD Tracks in Windows Explorer ?
2. Option > Files Associations : CDA checked ?
3. Playback : tried to switch from Wave Out > Direct Sound ?

BUMP
Dear Ives
Media Jukebox PLUS 8.0.355
Install Path: C:\Program Files\J River\Media Jukebox\

CPU: Intel Celeron 398 MHz MMX
Memory: Total - 130 MB, Free - 30 MB
OS: Microsoft Windows Me

Internet Explorer: 6.0.2600.0000
ComCtl32.dll: 5.50.4704.1100
Shlwapi.dll: 6.00.2600.0000
Shell32.dll: 5.50.4134.100
wnaspi32.dll: 2, 0, 0, 0 , ASPI for WIN32 DLL, Copyright © Adaptec 1995
Aspi32.sys: N/A I upgraded this to version 4.71 Could that have effected the CD playback

1. Can you see the CD Tracks in Windows Explorer ? YES

2. Option > Files Associations : CDA checked ? YES

3. Playback : tried to switch from Wave Out > Direct Sound ? YES

The latest development is - that it will play just one CD audio track and then stop, which it was doing before.

RE:CRISIS- CD WON I (I FIXED THE PROBLEM)
« Reply #3 on: August 27, 2002, 07:54:25 pm »

It was because I connected a cable for Analog from my CD Writer to the Sound Card. This unknown to me cut all Digital playback and recording and caused the CD problem. Now it is all working with Digital playback as it should
YEEEEH.

Yep, Snapper - Nice to see it works !

Anyway, you should have a close look at your ASPI installation.
You said you upgraded to Version 4.71 - but it doesn't shows up in your sys info - or did you upgrade after sending your reply.

With  ASPI 4.71 installed, sys info should show following up :

My sys info :

Media Jukebox PLUS 8.0.356
Install Path: C:\Program Files\J River\Media Jukebox\

CPU: AMD Athlon 1460 MHz MMX
Memory: Total - 523 MB, Free - 256 MB
OS: Microsoft Windows XP  Workstation 5.1  (Build 2600)

Internet Explorer: 6.0.2600.0000
ComCtl32.dll: 6.00.2600.0000
Shlwapi.dll: 6.00.2600.0000
Shell32.dll: 6.00.2600.0000
wnaspi32.dll: 4.70 , ASPI for Win32 (95/NT) DLL, Copyright © 1989-2001 Adaptec, Inc.
Aspi32.sys: 4.70  (mine is of course 4.70)

If the actual installation doesn't generate problems, a well installed ASPI layer may prevent you to face future possible problems, and atleast you won't have to care about this if you run into problems since you know the install is good.

Yes you are correct Yves I have the new upgrade but I need help to open the file.

When I click on the file I get a message saying "Windows cannot start more more than one copy of this program".

I assume I have to delete the old files but am not confident that I know what I'm doing.
I would appreciate any advice/instructions you may offer.
Thanks

If digital playback and ripping/burning are working fine, I wouldn't mess with your aspi layer. From your system info it appears you have the aspi layer that came with WinME which should work fine for you.
