Very interesting behaviour:

After eliminating all registry entries - uninstalling 12.0.198 - installing 12.0.222 - I got different crashes during the TV analog cable channels scans... which I've never seen before and my installation didn't change one little bit...

first scan crashed instantaneously

restarted the scan - crash after a few channels

restarted again - and it worked for all channels

maybe a useful hint that there is a problem around (which might be hard to track down)...

not complaining, just mentioning!
