Has anyone noticed when playing ogg's (ver 1) from MJ, that it can take 5 to 15 seconds for playback to settle down (that is, it can pop like a LP until it settles down). It doesn't happen all the time, but does more often than not (i.e. your on the internet (I have DSL) and play an ogg file). V1 ogg's @ q8 or q9 swing in kbs (approaching and sometimes exceeding 500 kbs) much greater than RC3 ogg's. My soundcard is a TurtleBeach OEM from Dell (I think it's a Santa Cruz). Once again, anyone else noticed this?

Does the playback option in MJ for "more skip resistant <---> more responsive" make a difference?

Try a check for updates to make sure you have a current ogg plug-in.

I'll try the "more skip resistant <---> more responsive" setting. I take it this raises playback priority on a "thread level". I'll check plugins too.

Update: slid slider all the way to skip resistant - seems to have solved the problem (system still as responsive as ever). Updated to 355 too. Your suggestion on the plugin update only applies to the encoding, correct?
