Noob Q - How do you bulk update blank "Genre" field?
« on: May 04, 2007, 12:51:53 am »

OK - I must need another coffee but I'm try to enter the string "Home Videos" into the Genre field for a subset of my video files in MC.  As I've got hundreds of video files I want to update.  I've tried to:
1) Select the target files
2) right click > Library Tools > check "Genre", enter "Home Videos" into the Replace field and I've tried leaving the Find field blank, with one space or with "" but nothing gets updated....

Thanks

Open the tag window and check that the Genre field is visible. If it's not, right click on the tag window and choose genre from the list that flies out from 'also show'.

Select the target files
click inside the genre field in the tag window and type "Home Videos" in there.
click anywhere else and the tags will be set.

--------

Alternatively, if you're using columns to view the file list, and the Genre column is on show, you can select the target files and then right click in the Genre column and choose the 'rename' option.
The first files' Genre field then becomes editable. Type in "Home Videos" and hit enter and the tag will be set for all selected files.
