Playing DVD's from your HD.

Is it possible to play dvd's stored in the .ISO format using MC12? If so how do you go about it.

Thanks.

Yes, but you need additional software.  MC does not handle disk image file formats natively.

To play ISO files ripped from DVDs, you'll need to mount the ISO files into a virtual DVD drive provided by an application like Daemon Tools.  There are a few options for this, and some of them can be fairly seamlessly integrated into MC.  Try searching the forum for "play ISO DVD" or something like that and I'm sure you'll find lots of information.

If you instead rip the DVDs to your hard drive in "full copy mode" (not to an iso but to the VIDEO_TS folder) then MC will handle them natively.  If you don't care about keeping the DVD format and menus, you could then convert them to MKV or other single-file formats which MC will handle easily.

Thanks for the response. I did search the forums before i posted the question, however there were 2 results and neither of them worked. So if i understand what you are saying correctly; I have to mount the .iso's with daemon tools and then import the virtual drive into MC?

You have to mount it yes. But you don't have to import anything.
The DVD will show up under Drives & Devices. Just select it and play I guess.

You can do it even more automatic than this. I was wondering about the same things weeks ago.

Yes, this is possilble. Look at this wiki

BTW, MrHaugen and others who asked about cover art for .ISO files before - since recent MC12 versions (12.0.251 and later), it is now possible to assign cover art to .ISO files as well. In order to do this, edit the "Media Type" tag of the .ISO file to Video. Now, assign cover art to .ISO file as you would normally do. Now, change the "Media Type" tag of the .ISO File to Data. You will have cover art assigned to the .ISO file now and you should be able to play the .ISO file as well.

Oh. Man, that made me even happier than the purchase of the Core 2 Duo CPU with 2GB Crusial Balistix 8500 DDR2 RAM just did!
Looking forward to test it out! Just a little shame it have to be done in such a hard way, but I'll live for sure.
