Import Didn't Import Some MP3 Files - Feature or Bug?
« on: July 08, 2007, 06:09:21 pm »

My files are organized as follows:

e:/folder 1
      file 1
      file ..
      file n
   /folder 2
      file 1
      file ..
      file n
and so on.

But one folder contains subfolders as well as loose files:

e:/folder 3
      /subfolder a
         file 1
         file ..
         file n
      /subfolder b
         file 1
         file ..
         file n
      file x
      file y
      file z

Twice now MC12 did not import file x, file y, and file z. Is this a feature or a bug??

Apparently neither. Just a cockpit error and my tired eyes.

it would be nice if it does not import, that we can select an option what to do with the file, like maybe "Listen", "Delete", "Move" etc... so we can check them out and maybe dispose of them.

I do that by saving new and unheard files to a folder named "_unprocessed" and if I like what I hear, I'll verify the tag and save/rename it to the appropriate folder...

yes, but there maybe some reason a file goes bad, bad drive maybe.

and reimporting may be the only time you find a file went bad, due to a bad drive, or lost cluster, bad app that messed with the tags etc...

Sometime ago users were talking about a MD5 check-sum of the media data (not the id3v2 tags) that would help detect when a file is changed. sometimes this could point you to a bad app, drive etc... to figure out why the file went bad and will not import.

as i said it would be nice to have an option to delete a bad file without looking thru the log cutting and pasting the file paths and file names into a program just so you can delete the offending file.
