To help people maintain their libraries and protect them from their own mistakes, I suggest one of the following minor enhancements.

1. To the delete file options, add one that "deletes from library and sends to recycle ONLY if file is not on a playlist", or
2.  Add a warning message on delete and send to recycle bin that pops up IF the file is in a playlist.

A further enhancement (but not as important and perhaps more complex to implement) is to leave the deleted file reference in a playlist when it has been deleted (the reference might be dimmed to distinguish).  This lets the user know a playlist has been modified via a delete (and where/what the issue is).  Currently when a file is deleted the playlist is automatically modified with no warning or indication)

What you're asking is not likely to happen any time soon because MC already has two commands for removing files from a playlist. You can of course "delete" a file with the usual options or you can use the "Remove From List" to just remove it from that playlist. It took a long time to get the second option added to MC, if MC even considers it, it'll be a long wait, I think. You might just have to keep better track of what you're deleting.
