Alpine Car Stereo?
« on: July 17, 2007, 10:17:17 pm »

I'm looking at this car stereo:
http://www.alpine-usa.com/US-en/products/product.php?model=iDA-X001

Does anyone have any feelings on it as far as if they have looked at it or not?  It seems to be one of the best iPod compatible car stereos to date.  I will definitely be verifying it works with iPhone before purchasing so I'm not sure if I'll consider it yet because I haven't had a chance to test it out.  I found it at Best Buy for $400 and that isn't too bad considering my last car stereo, now about 4 years old, cost me $500...it is also Apline.

Any other suggestions?  I want good iPod (iPhone) support and I really like the cover art display on the one I listed above!

That sounds a well good price for IPod support, and Alpine.
I reckon the Alpine Headunits have the best amps in them,
although the controls are a bit fidley on the last two i've used.

Head units seem to get more and more complex to use all the time!

I still think Apple needs to make a car.  iCar.

And car stereo.  iStereo.

It has really good reviews on Amazon saying it's the best iPod unit because it basically mimics the tried-and-true iPod interface.  I'll be stopping at Best Buy after work to take a look at it.

They also offer a Bluetooth adapter so, theoretically, I could make handsfree phone calls from my iPhone.  I also need a car mount and car charger for my iPod.  I want one mount that will hook it up to the stereo, charge it, and make it easy for me to use.  I could easily browse the web while driving (when STOPPED) then.
