I have a massive Media Jukebox 8 library with hundreds of playlists used for tagging and hundreds of hours of time invested in constructing the library, when I upgraded to Media Center 12 I can't get it to accept files from the Jukebox.  Tried doing restore from the Zip files of my library. How do we preserve all that work?

Unfortunately MC12 does not have an MJ8 library converter anymore. However, you can use MC11.1 for restoring an MJ8 library backup file and creating a compatible backup file for MC12.

I kind of thought of that possibility while I was mulling the situation over.  Luckily I maintained consider number of backups of the library and restore zips , I'll just have to remove what is on the machine at the moment and step through the sequence you suggest.  Probably should have read up more but I got excited about upgrading and jumped in with both feet ;-)  After all the years I've used Jukebox ( very satisfied ) I'd be traumatized for sure to lose all that work.  I wouldn't even have upgraded if I didn't start a video and picture project which required it and I could never be happy with MS Media Center it makes no sense at all to me. SO thanks again for the info and link.

You don't need to remove MC12 before installing the latest MC11.1 build. Both versions can co-exist on the same PC and . Actually, both versions accept automatically the same MC12 license so you can leave MC11.1 installed if preferred.

Just keep its library separate. The library format changed once again in MC12 and it is not backwards compatible.

MJ8 is a different beast. Some of its registry settings are not compatible and you should uninstall it before installing MC11.1 and MC12.
