Annoying Refresh Click Sound
« on: August 28, 2007, 07:19:00 am »

Hi All,
I've noticed a a seemingly random "click" sound every now again while listening to music. It sounds exactly like the click you get in IE when a page auto-refreshes. This occurs when in theatre view at random intervals. Is there a method for disabling this sound? Is it a function of IE? Just to be clear, I have nothing else running in the background and IE is definitely not open.

Any help is appreciated.

THanks,

Stu

Start >> Control Pannel >> Sounds And Audio Devices

Tab "Sounds"

Sound Scheme: No Sounds

Hi,

It's because it seems IE is embedded in MC, it seems to be used in the theatre view, playing now and start views (maybe more). whenever a page changes or updated/refreshed IE plays the click and MC doesn't or can't surpress it. Shame as the disabling sounds robs my work pc of feedback clicks... not that I mind them or miss them - depending on the system I use.

Are you on Vista with UAC enabled?

MC should disable this otherwise.

Instead of just setting it to no sounds, look through the list.  I'm sure the IE click is listed in there separately.  You can probably disable that without disabling all system sounds.

You can.  Though the no-sounds setting is nice too.

I always at least remove the startup and shutdown sounds.  Speaking of which... I've been meaning to get around to that on this very laptop...

The particular sound you want to set to "none" in this case is "Start Navigation".
