Find and Replace question (all my 'Date Importeds' reset!)
« on: September 03, 2007, 06:45:06 pm »

I just got a new drive and transferred music from another drive to the new one, and now all the dates for 'date imported' read today, which I was really trying to avoid. Here's what I did:

Closed MC
Moved the folder to the new drive
Renamed the folder
Opened MC and did 'Find and Replace', replacing the old drive letter with the new one
Closed MC
Renamed the folder back to its original name

I thought 'Find and Replace' would just point the old library entries to the new location without re-importing.

So the question is - what should/should I have done? I'd really appreciate an answer, cause I can reload a library backup and do it properly if I find out soon enough what to do.

Thanks

Alex B

It works for me. MC doesn't change the Date Imported values when I change the drive letters and/or base paths with the Find and Replace tool. It doesn't matter if the media files are online or offline.

Did you remember to disable the Auto-Importer before proceeding?

No. Well, thanks Alex - at least I can repair the damage now!
