Broken set of video files- I'm stuck!
« on: October 21, 2007, 06:08:21 pm »

Hiya,
Trying to get a set of OGM files to play in MC12.
Edit: Even more confused now  :P These are the current steps I've taken:
1. Tried playing them with Windows Media Player- Fine.
2. Tried muxing them into MKV- Still don't play in MC12, play fine in WMP.
3. Tried splitting the video and audio off into separate parts- Each plays fine in MC on its own, but not together.
4. Re-encoded the audio from Vorbis to AC3 & tried as both OGM & MKV files- Plays fine in WMP, not in MC (See a pattern here?!)
5. Run every scan I can think of on the video component (Xvid)- No errors of any description & plays fine on its own.
6. Re-encoded into AVI with MP3 audio- MC plays the AVI, but not a MKV/ OGM muxed from it.

Relavant log portion-

Not really, 215 odd megs each (Anime  ;) )

Need a wall to beat my head against ATM!
I could re-encode the video, but something seems to be fundamentally wrong, and I simply don't know if its going to have any effect, plus its going to take a long time to deal with 13 different files.
FWIW, this is the G-Spot info for the AVI with AC3 audio before muxing into MKV (This AVI plays fine in MC, but the resulting MKV doesn't):

In mild desparation, I've also tried the Virtualdub MKV muxer- Same story lol.
Another thing, before you ask- Yes, the rest of my MKVs work perfectly  :)

Things just get odder  ;D
If I rename any of the broken files to .avi, then MC plays them perfectly. Haali is set to split all possible filetypes & FFDShow should be decoding everything.

To be honest, I'm lost as to why this behaviour is occuring; I can only think that MC is spitting out something, but I simply cannot work out what.
