QAM support?
« on: October 02, 2007, 01:15:15 pm »

Are any QAM devices supported for MC11 or 12?  I'm considering the following devices:
Avermedia A180 - hybrid QAM/ATSC
Silicon Dust HD HomeRun - dual QAM/ATSC

My goal is to record and playback 480i, 720p, and 1080i broadcasts that don't have the content protect flag, and timeshift them, and cross-encode to another video format for portable playback.

No QAM support yet.

MC currently supports ATSC and DVB-T.

What is the difference between ATSC and QAM?  I've read that ATSC is "over the air"; does this refer to the HD signal that can be received via antenna?  Is QAM what is provided by the cable company over coax (i.e. digital cable)?
