ripping problem in last 2 versions
« on: August 13, 2002, 11:26:30 am »

I have not been able to rip cd's in the last two versions.  What happens is this:  I put the CD in and update the info from cddb, then when I click on the rip button the box opens up but it wants to see the the tracks on the E: drive (which is the burner-CDR) not the D; drive (which is the player-CD) I tried to make the changes in the options box but the changes will not apply.  This was working fine for almost a year now.  Running XP with all kinds of extra power.  Thanks for your help.

What happens if you specifically go to the D: drive under "CD, DVD & Handhelds", select the tracks, right-click, and pick Rip.  Any better?

Thanks.

SAme problem, the options box always opens with the E drive selected and I can not change it. Or should I say I can change it but the change doesn't take.

Options doesn't select what drive to rip with. (only which one you're currently configuring)

You select what drive to rip with by going to that drive in the tree and choosing files.

Take care.

The point is the same.  No matter what I do, the ripping process insists on looking at the e drive even though it should be looking at the d drive.  How do I fix that?

Sorry if I'm dense, but you're saying you're selecting tracks that are on the D: drive, right-clicking, picking Copy (Rip CD), and different tracks end up in the rip dialog?

Correct.  I go to the devices and select the d drive.  Then I right click on the track the proper track.  Then the CD copy window opens and it lists the proper track but under CD it says E:.  There fore when it initializes it can't find anything to record because it should be looking at the D drive.

Also, just to let you know.  CD's RIP fine in windows media player and PCDJ by Visiosonic, in case that is helpful.

Thanks for the help.  Hopefully we'll get it fixed in the next build...

FYI, the weirdest thing just happened.  I was burning a CD to see if it would work. (it did)  Any way I tried the Ripping again and when MJ first opened the copy window it was wrong as usual but then it fixed itself and now seems to work fine.  Go figure?

Although now functional, it is noticably slower like 4 times as slow.
