This is the scenario:
A large portion of my mpc files was on a hd, that I accidently
formated during a XP reinstall.
So I lost all these files, and am in the process of reripping all of those files.
The challenge is this:
I have filled out year, comment, custom 1,2 & 3 fields for all of the songs.
All of this info is still there in the MJ library - only the actual
file is not there any more.
If I just put in the cd and rip, in many cases MJ produces duplicates of the existing songs in the library, only without of course all of the database field info that I need.
So then I wind up with 2 sets of the songs from the cd, the actual ones without the db-info.
What can I do to transfer or in some other way make the MJ database believe the new file equals the old file?
When reripping I check in proberties what naming scheme has been used and duplicate this. However, if a song in the database has something written in the comment fields, the new rip will be a duplicate...
Hope I made myself clear.
I thought that there must be a simple way to do this.
Jesper.
