I have MC set up in split view, two views, columns, where one is audio/media library and the other is playing now/playlist.

My question is this: is it possible to search only in the library, and not in the play list? Sometimes I'm listening to something and want to add something to the PL. So I search. Firstly, now, my playlist disappears since it's not plart of the search results, which is annoying. Secondly, I can't add the new album by dragging it into the playlist directly, as one can when no search string is entered. You can drag it into the display view after which you can cklick 'add to playing now' on the context menu. But I think that is an uneccessary step.

But most of all, I want to separate playlist search from library search.

You're in luck.

Searches stored per tab / split view was added around build 385.

Look for build 388 (which includes a couple of fixes) to show up on this board in a few days.

Well what do you know... Been missing this functionality for a long time, and when I finally post about it, it has just been added! Gonna update and try it out tomorrow.

Alright, found a bug here...

Let's say I am listening to an album/playlist, X. I search my audio pane for album Y, select it in the pane and drag it to the playing now column. When I drop them here (still need to drop them in the display window and select 'add to playing now' in context menu), the playing now column also filters based on the search string. Selecting the playing now column shows that there is nothing searched for "there". To see everything there again I have to serach for 'a' (or whatever), and then reset the search.

(also if I may comment, the tilted album art... not pretty, especially not how it touches the top of the box...)
