Automatic "Red X" File Delete
« on: March 04, 2004, 09:13:40 pm »

Is MC10 able to somehow automatically delete those files with the "red X"?
Or is there a funtion that can allow me to select all the red X files only and then allow me to delete them however I want?

Thanks,
Rob

always back up the library before you mess with it (ive lost lots of data that way)

then go file> library> update library

mc will scan your hdd's and remove any 'red x files' that it cant find. the question is why are they there? have you moved any directories around recently - thats often the reason.

if so then id run import media in the same subdirectory and it will refind the moved files.

Aside: next time you want to move files, try to do it through mc, then it remembers where they are moved to

What happened to the Library/Update function in MC12?

(to clear the red "x"s)

It's now in: "Tools > Run auto import now"

To set what will happen when you do that, open MC's options and go to "Library and Folders". If you enable the option to run auto import in the background, all of this will be taken care of for you automatically.

Just to add to what marko said, Fix Broken Links in Auto-Import options has to be set to one of the "Yes" values for it to get rid of your red X's. Or is that just MC12. Can't remember.

MC12 defaults to "Yes - protect network files" which should be fine for just about everybody as it prevents red x's caused by disconnected network drives from being removed from the library.
