error on converting wma format to mp3

I have about 2,000 tracks in wma format that I am trying to convert to mp3 format but windows xp pro keeps generating a error I am going to try to cut and paste the error.

Wolfie,

Does MJ crash right away?  Does it happen only on a specific track?

it crashes right away can not convert any tracks.

Make sure you have the MP3 encoder installed.  Try ripping a CD to MP3 to confirm.

Then try converting WMA one file at a time to see if the problem exists with all files or some files.

By the way, conversion is not a good idea in most cases because you will lose some quality.

Exactly what JimH said...converting your WMA to MP3 will probably degrade the sound quality.  Most likely, the WMAs are at fairly low bitrates.  If you convert them to higher bitrate MP3s, all you'll end up with is bad sounding MP3s that take up more space on you hard drive than the original WMAs.

Can you send me one of the files?  I don't have problems converting my WMA files.
