Moving cover art question
« on: May 31, 2008, 01:18:46 am »

Ive just changed my organazation method for video. Part of which was changing the cover art location setting from  "specified folder" to "in folder with the file" . so from here on all will be well, but how do i get media center to move all my art thats already on disc? probably simple, im just missing it. Thanks in advance!

In general, MC doesn't have tools for moving linked cover art (unless you import the cover art files and tag them separately, like I do).

Also, the automatic naming system is not very good for video files. For example, you cannot use [Artist] - [Album].jpg unless you have tagged the video files with those tags and folder.jpg is usable only if you have each video file that has unique cover art in a separate folder.

I prefer to link video cover art manually. I store the image file in the same folder with the video file and give it an appropriate and descriptive name. I link it by dragging the image file from Windows Explorer to the expanded image view in AW > Tag > Image (click the small thumbnail to expand the display). In this way only the filename gets stored in the "Image File" library field - not the complete path - and the link will always be correct if the linked image can be found in the video file's folder.

So, if I copy the art to clipboard, then pate  from clipboard, it does exactly what i want. I have somewhere near 9000 videos to fix, any chance in the next release a simple command could be added to be able to highlight a list of files and perform this action? Or a script could be written? i know its a request for and by one user, but i guarantee many people could use it for just this situation, and if it could be applied to other commands, it would be unsefull all over the place.
