Urgent Message For J River & Co
« on: August 10, 2002, 01:08:20 pm »

I purchased your MJ Plus on 27 July 2002.
Up to this date 9 August 2002. I have not been able to listen any web radio stations. All keep getting is a message from MJ reader saying failed to connect to server, and several other messages failed to...... Also when I click on get latest news from MJ on the opening page of the MJ player I get the same. I have posted several messages on the your interact help pages, but as to date I have no answer to remedy the problem that I have.
I have gone through the help and cannot find anything refering to this problem. I tried other players to listen to a web radio station with out changeing any settings on my machine and get music!!! so why can I not use your player?
Please can you help me on this or I will feel that I have been duped and have brought a dud!!!!!!!!

On your original thread, Matt asked if you had IE properly configured, but you never replied. Do you? (MJ uses IE's proxy settings). Are you (or your ISP) using a firewall or proxy server? How are you connecting to the net?

Thanks,

j

I use ozemail.com as my internet provider and have had no problems with them with other players. I have IE 6.2 on the machine
I do not have a firewall installed.

What version do you have?  A bug was fixed around 8.0.300|PLS|.

I think I have version 8.0 I brought MJ on July 27 2002 if that can give an idea about the time when further versions came out.
I have tried clicking on Check for updates and still get the message failed to connect to server.

Thanks

In MJ, click Help, About Media Jukebox.  Read the version at the top of the pop-up box.

Better yet, go to Help, System Info..., then click Copy to Clipboard, and paste that info into your next post here.

You can try 8.0.346 from a thread here.  I'm not sure whether it will help.

It appears you have an issue with a proxy server or firewall as someone said above.

Closing this thread now.

If you need more help, please use a subject that describes the problem.  No need to address JRiver.  And using "reply" instead of "post" keeps your message in the thread you're reading.
