Is it possible to play all the tracks on my ZEN Vision W directly from the device without copying them to my computer first? When I try, it says "Media Center can not play files from this portable device." Is this a problem only with this player, or does Media Center just not play any files directly from any device?

We can only play back content on the device if the device is drive-based (appears in My Computer as a removable drive). Many devices have the ability to be used in MSC (removable drive) and MTP (Microsoft Transfer Protocol) modes and allow the user to select which mode suits there needs. The Creative players (including the W) tend not to include this feature so you are stuck in MTP mode.

The W does allow you to configure a portion of it's storage as a removable drive. If you create a removable drive space on your W and transfer files to that space, you will be able to play content directly from the device.
