tag updating and handheld cache
« on: January 21, 2008, 03:01:29 pm »

Hi,

I have a question about the handheld cache which stores converted files for handheld sync. If I change the tags of the original file - would the cached copy in the handheld cache will be updated to reflect this tags or will it be reconverted? I think it is being reconverted right now based on my experience. If so, why should this be done? I mean, why don't just update the tags of the converted files in the handheld cache?

This may make the process of tagging a lot slower so maybe it should be optional. What do others think?

I don't think it is doing either.  The handheld cache is very loosely coupled.

I experimented. The handheld cache is indeed loosely coupled. I observed that whenever the handheld is sync the next time and if the tag-changed file is in the sync list for this handheld - it would be reconverted at the next sync.
