skipping forward and backward speeds are different?
« on: January 23, 2008, 02:36:28 am »

I just noticed that when I press forward on my remote, MC skips 30 seconds ahead on the current video that I am playing, and yet when I press rewind, it only jumps back 6 seconds. Is this a deliberate feature?

Actually, it's 30 secs forward and 10 seconds back and yes, it's by design.

You can make it whatever you want though using the following MC Core commands mapped to your remote:

10034 MCC_SEEK_FORWARD int nMilliseconds and,
10035 MCC_SEEK_BACK int nMilliseconds

More info on available commands is here: http://wiki.jrmediacenter.com/index.php/Media_Center_Core_Commands

That's pretty typical for all DVRs that I've seen. When fast forwarding, it's advantageous to skip ahead as quickly as possible, but if you find you've gone too far, then a smaller step backwards is best. Otherwise you'd just skip back to the same place you were when you last decided to skip forward.
