Was running out of room on 250GB external drive, so took opportunity of CompUSA going out of biz sale to get 750GB for around $100! Figured I'd move all my *.ape files from 250GB drive to 750GB drive so that collection could continue to grow, then make smaller MP3s of everything and put on the 250GB and take to work. Move of ape files to 750GB worked great, did the "clone" thing and MC12 found the library with with no problem, so all is well on the home front.
At work I'd previously been using iPod though MC12, so I unplugged the iPod and cleared the library so there were no libraries left in library manager. At home I used the same process to clone the library to the 250GB. Then at work moved all the cloned files from the 250GB to "C:\documents and settings\user\application data\J River\Media Center 12\library\default. So far so good...MC12 started up and recognized the library. Everything looked just the same as it did on my home PC.
Then I tried to play something and got error message "Unable to play files. Make sure path in Media Library points to the right location and files are not being filtered by access control." I suspect the problem is that the new files are *.mp3 and not *.ape as were the ones in the cloned library and that MC is looking for the .ape file extension. Am I correct? Either way, how do I make this work without having to import all MP3s into MC from 250GB and having to go back and make all corrections that I've made to the library over the past several years?
