Crash when moving songs in "playing now"
« on: August 07, 2002, 11:26:23 pm »

I haven't been able to discover a pattern to it yet, but very often (often enough to make me avoid it altogether) Media Jukebox will simply vanish/crash with no error message when moving a song to a different spot (re-ordering) in the "playing now" view. It happens instantly after releasing the mouse button while hovering the song over the spot I try to move it to. This has happened since I started using Media Jukebox several (8.0) versions ago. Any ideas? Thanks!

I'm bumping this up...just because it's a fairly serious bug. :(

Well what do you know...it seems to be working crash-free so far (albeit with minimal testing). Thanks!

Well, I thought it seemed to be working alright after upgrading to .346...until my friend was reordering "playing now" on my computer last night and MJ vanished into thin air followed by a "Matt! WTF??" I upgraded to .348 today and experienced the same crash upon moving a song one position up in a playing now list of 15 tracks. Any ideas on what's up?

Does disabling MEGA-ME skinning make any difference? (sort of a stretch, but maybe worth a try)

Can anybody else reproduce this?

Thanks.

I actually am running with MEGA-ME skins disabled already. I tried enabling them, but still experienced the crash. :|  I'm surprised nobody else seems to have this problem...is there just something horribly wrong with my computer?

Didn't realize this until today, but yes I am having the same problem with MJ crashing when moving songs to playing now and also trying to play songs from a burned cd. Just upgraded to 8.0348, didn't change any settings because everything wroked fine before.  alos am getting all kinds of errors when trying to burn a cd from files in MJ.  The songs are there, but MJ crashes when I try to play them.  Have aspi installed as I did before upgrade, running windows xp, P-4

It's me again.  Error that I get when trying to burn cd is: Error Write command failed on device 1:1:0  Unexpected target error (04h00h04h).  this seems to occur when trying to finalize cd, but songs are there. just can't play them. MJ crashes

I'm not sure if that's the same problem I'm having, as mine crashes when moving files around within "playing now". It could be related though. And regarding the CD burning problem, I got the same error yesterday until I turned on "use generic driver". It worked after that...but I'm not sure why I had to do that, because I know my burner (HP 9100 series) is supported.

Thanks for the suggestion, as now with checking generic driver my burning sessions seem to be working smoothly.  Haven't had to do this in previous upgrades, as my burner is also supported.  Moving around in playing now also seems o.k..  Only difference, other than upgrading to newest version, I had MJ take control of all files and emptied out Window Media Player and Real One default selections.  Anyone have any suggestions as to why you have to check generic driver and if file selection stuck some kind of bug in there?

"and if file selection stuck some kind "

>> Options > File Association : What's checked ?

Are the file types related to WMP (wax, wm, wma, wmv, wmx) and Real Player (ra, ram, rm, rmj, rmm, rmx) unchecked ?

Files associated with WMP were checked, Files for real one were unchecked.  Checked them all.  I thought telling MJ to associate all files would do that.  I'll see what happens.

If you're using Real One, you may find that it steals file types.  You could disable it to see if that's the problem.  You might have to uninstall it to get its full attention.

I thought MJ needed real one player as an association for playing files.  I never use it, I've only kept it because I thought I read in a previous posting it was needed.

I hate to be whiny about this problem, but it is seriously hindering my usage of Media Jukebox. I'm a registered user and I would at least appreciate you guys looking into this bug. I'm now running the latest beta version and am still experiencing the frequent crashing in the playing now list when re-ordering songs. Please help! Thanks.
