Is it possible to connect a Yamaha RX-V2700 to MC13 on a Vista PC?

I have the network receiver connected to my wireless network. I'm trying to figure out how to get it connected to my PC so it can access my library.

The manual says I should Windows Media Connect 2.0, but I think that is for Windows XP, not Vista.

Thanks...

Good Luck!  I've now have a V2700, but from what I remember of the last I looked at this I had a V2600, I hooked it up to my network once, browsed some the audio files from my PC (via a share - not MC) on it's little unusable display, played an MP3 file (will not play WMA Lossless), gave it up for a joke and never tried again.  It sounded like a good idea but the loss of functionality (eg only Limited Codec support) and the poor presentation layer ment it was never going to replace the HTPC Running MC13 I've got hooked up to the V2700 as a source.

Thanks

Thanks...

I was able to connect the receiver to my PC using the Windows Media Center 11 Library, but not JR Media Center.

Would you suggest a UPnP Media Receiver?

The V2700 is UPnP capable so you should be able to connect to MC13 (as you can from Windows Media Center 11) but you may need to play with some of the options in MC13 (http://wiki.jrmediacenter.com/index.php/UPnP_Server_and_Devices_%28Media_Receivers%29) & also may need to change some Vista firewall settings.  Personnally I'd still hook your PC up to the V2700, that way you will get Video and Audio (not just Audio) from MC13.  Maybe others can comment on HW based UPnP as it's been awhile since I looked at the overall market (and decided to go down the HTPC route instead).
Thanks

Nathan,

My PC is in another room. Can I connect it to the V2700 via wireless?

Nope, you would need a run of HDMI or Component/Composite + S/PDIF/Analog and then something like an IR extender for RC/KB control.  Other option is another "Media Center" style PC at your TV (I use a Shuttle for this but there are many times) or as you say UPnP/DLNA device but MC13 will be restricted to serving Audio only at this stage.

I was able to connect the receiver to my PC using the Windows Media Center 11 Library, but not JR Media Center.

But the navigation is terrible. I will need a different solution.
