Author Topic: Help! Downloading to Nomad IIc both internal memory and external...  (Read 1037 times)

I can't seem to download to my Nomad IIc when I have both internal and external smartmedia cards installed.

For some reason I can send a playlist to each of the two cards, but then when I go to the queue area, I don't have an option to start the upload.

Help greatly appreciated!  I leave for vacation tomorrow and sorely wanted to upload a bunch of songs before I left.

Sunil,

I assume you are running v 8. If you click on the root level "Nomad" icon in the tree, you should see the Upload button in the lower right hand corner of MJ. If you are still having problems, you can email me directly at steve @ jriver.com so we can get you set up with some tunes before your vacation.

Steve--

it is an odd problem I appear to be having.  It may have something to do with the formatting of the smartmedia card I bought.  I may need to exchange it.

Anyway, when I open up the nomad, I see the two cards (internal and external).  I then drag down the playlists I want on both.  Everything is properly in the queue.

Then I say "upload".  In a couple of tries, the upload button was not clickable.  Then one time it was.  I clicked, it "uploaded", but what i ended up with was a mess.

I had tunes on my internal, but only garbage on the external smartmedia card.

Worse, I cannot delete the garbage off of the card.  Finally, I thought to reformat the card, but that too does not work!

Sunil,

Can you try downloading the standalone drivers for the Nomad II from

http://www.nomadworld.com/downloads/drivers/welcome.asp?OS=%23Win2k%23&prod=%23nomad2c%23&Select=Get|PLS|Files&x=34&y=2

"Nomad2drivers.exe"

These are the drivers that must be installed to work with our Plug-in. From the quirky behavior you are describing this seems to me to be a good guess as to what the problem is.

Let me know how it turns out.

Jury is in-- bad smartmedia card.

Okay, everything is working fine now.  I am not sure what happened, but the smartmedia card was just toast.

What is interesting is that I think it had something to do with the initial formatting.

My wife looked through all the stupid (and I mean stupid) Creative directions, and nowhere did it explain how to initialize smartmedia cards.  Thus she shoved it in, tried to copy music, and after that we couldn't format it or do anything to fix the card.

Bizzare.

Anyway, all is well that ends well.

Thanks!

Sunil,

Have you tried formatting from within MJ? Even if the card is not recognized, you should be able to right-click on the "Nomad" icon and be able to command the player to format it. It might work and you could have use of your card again.

Have a good vacation.
