32k file limit?
« on: August 04, 2002, 09:26:51 am »

Are there any plans to remove the 32k limit on the number of files MJ can handle?  I read something about it in the programming forum, but anyone know?  I'm about 1/3 of the way ripping my cd's and I've got 18k files already.

Media Jukebox will work fine with well over 100,000 files... (ask KingSparta)

The issue in the developer's forum was a VB problem, not an MJ problem.

Take care.

You did not read that correctly, what we were talking about was i thought a limitation on the MJ-SDK. What it turned out to be was a limitation on a Function in Visual Basic that was used in the source code of the VB SDK, there was another Function, That can be used to get over the limits of visual basic and i tried that and it worked.

I Currently Have 131,000|PLS| mp3's and 712gigs of storage hooked up to this computer. so there is no limit that i know of yet.

by the way what i am working on is

a program that will take a database and look thru it.

the data base has the top 40 since 1940 - 1999

SongName, ArtistName, ChartYear, and Chart Position

it will look for the id3 song name with the database if there is a match, then it makes sure the id3 Artist Matches the Database artist. if they both match then it corrects the ID3 Year date and then also adds a comment in the comment line of the top position it had in the chart.

it also handles cover art (more than one cover art pic can be stored in the id3v2 tag).

it looks thru the 11,000 line database in less than 2 seconds. if it makes a match it will be less.

I am looking for a top 100 (or more) database maybe 1940 to current

but i am just playing with it for me and someone else.
